Biodex Muscular Strength Assessment
This test is important for analyzing strength for the different joints. During this strength assessment the participant will be strapped to a chair and then push and pull against an attachment with the involved joint. The machine will record the torque produced at the joint. For example, a soccer player would extend the leg at the knee to evaluate torque or power of the joint at different speeds. This might give us a clue if the athlete is at a higher risk of future injury when kicking a ball at higher speeds. Both sides of the body will be evaluated and tested for imbalances! These imbalances could lead to injury or a decrease in performance. Someone who is having surgery could benefit from knowing the strength of one leg and comparing it to the injured leg. After surgery, the goal would be to strengthen the operated limb so it is comparable in strength to the opposite limb.
